New Release From The Amazing Helen Pryke -- THE HEALER'S SECRET

'Jennifer’s life isn’t going as she planned. Fired from her job and on the brink of divorce at thirty-one, her only salvation lies at the bottom of a wine bottle. When her mother insists she get away from everything, she reluctantly agrees to explore her Italian roots in Tuscany.

Staying in her family’s centuries-old cottage, she becomes embroiled in a mysterious tragedy involving her great-grandmother. As she delves further into her ancestors’ history, she discovers there is more to her heritage than meets the eye.

Ghosts from the past could give Jennifer something she thought she’d never have: a future. But that depends on whether she can resist temptation and avoid slipping back into her old ways.

Will she be able to conquer her inner demons and discover the healer’s secret?'

This fantastically written and beautifully sculpted novel is available in both ebook and print (for those of you, like myself, who love the smell of a book) and at 236 pages in length, it is just long enough to allow you to fall into the story and immerse yourself in the life of the characters and short enough to hold you gasping for the next instalment.

A FIVE STAR AMAZON REVIEW

A 'mysterious' heritage, not to be missed.

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

There’s a little bit of magic in this book, and I don’t mean the kind with magic wands and spells. It’s enchanting and yet pulls on the threads of normal life. Family tragedies, a mysterious heritage and the strength to pull through the obstacles that life throws at us. Filled with colorful characters, the author Helen Pryke takes us on a tale of self-discovery and courage, and in doing so takes on tough topics. The book is beautifully presented, and I especially liked the little details such as the family tree and illustrations. Discovering Tuscany and Italian life, this is an emotional journey not to be missed.

** sings ** HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEE, I'M ONLY 23! **cough-cough**

Well, I made it to another birthday and guess how I am gonna spend it? You got it... READING!!!
I happen to have three authors whose work I am loving at the moment and they are Nikki Landis (#paranormalromance, #erotica #supernatural), D. J. Doyle (#horror #extremehorror #historicalhorror), and lastly a newcomer to the publishing world, at least the one of the books, Claire Barrand (#shortstories, #horror #supernatural).

So I treated myself to one of each of their works! I was lucky enough to be given the job of editing the latest offering of Nikki Landis -- DUNGARI RISE and I gotta tell you, I have preordered it! I want it, the published version, on my kindle. It is an amazing read and a tale love against all odds.
If you love SyFy/Erotica/fantasy romance then you will just adore this!

Next on my reading list is the 2nd book in The Celtic Curse series, Newgrange. I love the premise of this and as a lover of all things magical both light and dark I can not wait to get my teeth into this. I have read all the amazing reviews for it on both Amazon and Goodreads and I am so excited to see if it will be as good as Banshee, or if it will be even better.

Lastly, to read by the fire with a nice glass of wine is the first of hopefully many offerings from the fantastic Claire Barrand. This talented writer has been writing on all things paranormal for a long time and recently took that from the page to the airwaves with Dead Creepy Paranormal Podcast which she did alongside her sister Linzi Smith. This is the first of many I hope, as after reading the preview I know this will be a creepy yet engaging read.

I know...I know...you want to wish me Happy Birthday but you don't know where to send the amazing present you got me...don't worry, I would be even more buzzed if you supported one of the amazingly talented writers above instead by buying, reading, and reviewing one of their titles.

If I don't get the chance to say it, I will say it now...

Tired old eyes need a rest? I have just the answer!

If you have read so much that your eyes hurt (or like me it is just old age) then why not try audio books?  Just recently I have discovered the wonders of this fantastic invention and I have to be honest when I say...I LOVE IT!

I love stories, I love hearing them and reading them, heck...I'd live on them if I could. So when mundane chores took me away from reading I resented them, but not anymore. Now I pop in the headphones and listen to an amazing book while I do the laundry, hoover floors, and even to the disgusting chore of cleaning my kid's rooms (teenagers...ugh).

So I thought today I would share with you a few books that have caught my attention. If you haven't tried them before I would urge you to, I promise you will fall in love with this platform of storytelling just as I have.

Some of the books below are on offer and if you haven't signed up before you could sign up to audible for a 30-day free trial and try them out!

Welcome to the Nine Cities and the Waste beyond to the East. Come ride with me. Soar above a broken land in search of a glimmer of hope, an uncut gem hidden to all but the most perceiving eyes. Come fly with me to the towers of Holmsguard and beyond, and see what it is to be Mist Falcon.

Gwen Hensley's becoming starts when fate demands her demise, forcing her to carve her own path. Her magical powers are linked to her suffering and she is destined for great things.

First, she must unravel the dark history of her family, before the ones who cast the shadow on it kill her too. While starting on the earth realm with a human threat, as the series progresses, the dangers become supernatural. Darkness and sorrow shape Gwen into a creature coveted by rulers of multi-realm kingdoms, while she fights to hold on to the light in her soul and protect her family.

Gwen Hensley, an elemental witch, is ripped from the fairytale of small-town life and her undead, wolf familiar, Sebastian. She is called to work undercover for a ruling fate, Greta, to locate another missing elder amid the chaos and politics at witch’s council. The guise of ambassador for the undead seemed a natural cover but puts her in a precarious position when her peace and power captivate the realm master, Dmitry.

No matter what the options are, Mike, a rough-tongued, reclusive southerner, with little patience for people, would rather be fishing. Every time he puts his hand on his rod, the phone rings with a new job to exterminate a monster. Rather Be Fishing follows Mike on nine such delays as he battles a range of challenging creatures. His clients find themselves plagued by everything from well-known foes like vampires and werewolves to more rare nuisances like moss men and chupacabra. Adding to his headaches are the not-so-supernatural clients he needs to deal with in order to get a free day on the lake.

The Secret of Berry Brae Circle cover art

A kidnapped father. An ancient tome. A mystical gem. When 14-yr old Abby Fletcher returns home to present day Scotland with the help of her magical dog, Finlay, she receives a disturbing message: the Book of Shay in exchange for the life of her father. Pressed for time, Abby and the young Scotsman, Rory, set off in search of the mysterious book. In a whirlwind adventure filled with time travel, frightful adversaries, and enchanted beings, their path leads to a timeworn stone circle. There, with Berry Brae's secret revealed, Abby must make a life-changing decision in this second installment of the Red King Trilogy.

The Sorcerer's Ascension cover art

Torn from a life of comfort and luxury, his family destroyed by political intrigues and aspirations, a young boy must quickly grow into a man before the deadly streets of Southport devour him. Follow Azerick through a non-stop adventure that pits him against thieves, thugs, murderers, and men of power that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
Azerick must fight just to survive, but for him, survival is not enough. A hunger to avenge the wrongs committed against him burns deep within. But that is not all that lies within the young man. There is a power waiting to be unleashed that may be the key to achieving the justice and security he seeks...if it does not destroy him first.

Shrouds of Darkness cover art

Leo Malone is a vampire, part-time PI, part-time hired muscle, and full-time jerk, but he is very good at what he does. Leo deals with problems with sharp, sarcastic remarks, unparalleled violence, and "bullet diplomacy". Leo signs on to a simple missing persons case - as simple as a missing werewolf can be - but when ravaged bodies begin to show up in streets of New York, Leo finds himself wrapped within the dark, shrouded folds of an ever-expanding conspiracy that threatens to expose the shadowy existence of both vampires and werewolves.

Shrouds of Darkness is a pause-resisting action thriller that will have you tightly gripped in suspense, laughing hysterically at Leo's unfiltered behavior, and begging for more.

These are more than enough to get you started...and I hope you fall in love with audiobooks just as I have.

1888-The Ripper File: Book One of the Paranormal; Research and Rescue Institute - 4 out of 5 STARS

1888-The Ripper File: Book One of the Paranormal; Research and Rescue Institute (Paranormal Institute)1888-The Ripper File: Book One of the Paranormal; Research and Rescue Institute by Lora Edwards
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

CHARACTERS: 4 out of 5
PLOT: 4.5 out of 5
WORLD BUILDING: 4 out of 5
STORY FLOW: 4 out of 5

What sold me on this book was the cover. I know they say, "Never judge a book..." and all that, but I did. It hinted at mystery, supernatural and had a gothic hint to it. I was browsing Amazon when I happened across it and I clicked on it right away wanting to know more.

This book ticked every box for me. A lover of all things supernatural, paranormal, fantasy, mystery and time travel this book touched on each. The characters were likable and I adored her grandfather. He friend I had to warm to but that didn't take too long.
I loved the link to Jack the Ripper too and have been fascinated with all things Ripper since I was a teenager. As I said, this book ticked every box.

There is something for everyone in this, there is even vampires, witches, fae and many other supernatural creatures to tickle your fancy.

Highly recommended!
